Hi everyone,
Have you started reading Bossypants yet? I wanted to let you know that if you’re planning to take part in our discussion this time, you should try to have the entire book read by July 8. That’s when I’ll be posting the actual date of our LIVE Book Club chat!
I hope you’re finding this book to be as laugh-out-loud funny as I am. It puts a smile on my face every time I turn it on (I did end up getting the audio version and it’s hilarious!).
Let me know if you like the book so far in the comment section below. Happy reading!

P.S. Remember not to spoil anything for readers who may have just started reading the book. You’ll be able to talk about what you liked and didn’t like about specific parts of the book during our LIVE Book Club chat…very soon!

Hi everyone,
I've finally decided on our next Book Club book: Bossypants by Tina Fey!
I'm really looking forward to reading this book. I might even opt for the audio version narrated by Tina herself; I've heard it's hilarious.
What do you think? Let me know if you'll be reading along with me in the comment section below! I'll keep you posted on the date and time for the Book Club discussion.

Hi everyone,
I hope you’ve all have a chance to finish Water for Elephants. I finished it last weekend, although by the time I got to the last few pages I really didn’t want it to end! I loved this book.
From start to finish, Water for Elephants had me asking questions, thinking about my own life, and completely entertained. I can’t wait to discuss this book with you, so without further ado, let the LIVE book club meeting begin!
Here’s my first question for you:
Which incident involving the character August upset you most? When he beat Rosie, when he hit Marlena, or when he had Camel and Walter red-lighted?
Tell me your thoughts in the comment section below and ask your Water for Elephants questions there as well. Now let’s get chatting!
XOXO
Ali
P.S. I'm in NYC today, but I’ll be here chatting for about 20 minutes. I’ll let you know in the comment section below when I have to get back to work and sign off. Until then, thanks for being here to chat with me!

Good morning everyone!
So, what do you think of Water for Elephants so far? Even though I’ve been busy with work and my family, I’ve really enjoyed making time for this book! I'm completely immersed in the magical yet gritty circus world author Sarah Gruen brings to life in this book.
Here are a few of my reading questions for you so far:
• Since the book moves between a story about a young man who joins the circus and the story of an old man in a nursing home, how do those two stories enrich each other? Do you find both story lines equally entertaining? How would the story be different had the author only written about younger Jacob?
• When you first read the prologue, who did you think murdered August? How did the murder affect your impressions of the characters in the story that follows?
• Do you like how the author has included vintage photos of the circus? When you found the first one, did it alter the way you envision the book’s setting?
• How have Jacob's relationships (particularly with Walter, August, and Camel) changed since the beginning of the book?
I’d also love to know what your favorite part of the book is so far, and what some of your biggest questions are at this point. Did any of you already finish the book? Did you see the movie version that came out over the weekend? Let me know in the comment section below.
*** If you think your comment might give something away about the book’s ending, please label your response “SPOILER ALERT” out of respect for those still reading. Thank you.
XOXO
Ali

Hi everyone,
Thank you so much for the great book suggestions! I love that so many of you are avid readers!
Due to an overwhelming response both here and on Facebook, I’ve decided that our first AlisonSweeney.com Book Club book is going to be Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen!

I’m so excited to read this book with all of you! Next week, I'll announce the date and time of our first online book club meeting. In the meantime, I will be posting my thoughts and asking you questions about the book—so be on the lookout for those posts!
I can’t wait to get lost in this book. Also, I think it will be so much more fun to see the movie once I’ve finished reading the book! What do you think? Will you wait until you’ve finished reading the book to see the movie? I think it hits theaters on April 22.
If you’re going to join the AlisonSweeney.com Book Club and read Water for Elephants with me, let me know in the comment section below!

Hi everyone,
As I’ve mentioned before, I love getting lost in a good book. In fact, if you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen me tweet about the virtual book club I started there a while back. Basically, everyone in the club reads the same book, and then on a specific date, the entire book club gathers online to tweet about what we loved/hated/thought of the book. Sounds fun, right? Well, I’m not only inviting all of you to join my book club there—but I’d love to start our very own AlisonSweeney.com Book Club here!
Let’s put our heads together and find a great book to get our AlisonSweeney.com Book Club started by leaving any book titles you’d like considered in the comments section below. Tell me how you heard about this book and why you want everyone to read this with you. Next week, I’ll announce which suggested book we’ll be reading together and set the date for our very first, online book club meet-up.
