Family Workouts

We have this great walking path near our house called the North County Trailway and we either rollerblade, bike or walk it depending on our energy level.  If we walk it, it gives us a great opportunity to catch up with what's going on in our busy lives.

My 3yr old daughter's favorite work out to do with me is Yoga! She does all the streaches with me, but her favorite is when I'm in plank position.  She loves to jump on my back like a horsey.  For me, it's great because it adds a little more weight to my strenght training!

We've recently started soccer too! So we're able to go out to the parks near our house and run, run, run for a good hour or so! Great cardio!!

I would always ride bikes, skate, and skatebroad with mine.

I am now starting all over again with my kids in my neighborhood.

We love to go swimming.  All summer long we would take the kids to the pool a couple times a week.  My 4 year old can now swim all over the pool and he loves to dive.  My 2 year old started out scared of the water and now he loves it.  It has been a great way to be active with the kids that everyone enjoys!

Family workouts great idea! My husband and I are just starting our weight loss journey. Where do larger people get work out clothes like I see the people on Biggest Loser wearing? In stores I see great stuff to 1X.

My daughters like to do the P90X workouts with me,  they count my sit ups, and sometimes they're my personal trainers. (my 10 year old does a cleaner languaged Jillian Micheals. LOL)  They'll make up what I have to do -Push Ups, jumping jacks, sit ups.

My daughter has participated in Girls on the Run, where they train to run a 5k.  So she and I will go out and jogging.

I also have used my daughters as weights. Hilarious, but it's a free 80lb weight and 50 weight.

Sorry that I rambeled.  Just wanted to share.

*50 more pounds more to go before I can dress like Alison Sweeney*

I Crossfit with my kids.  They do a great job on burpees and their squat is better than mine!!  I wish we could all keep the squat we had as children ;o)

My kids and I go walking & bike riding!  We also do the Denise Austin Fit Kids workout together!  Highly recommended!  My lil' boy who is almost 2 will even get down and do it with us.  Also, my 4 year old loves it, and sometimes just wants me to put the DVD on for just him to dance around and exercise while I am busy with other things.  We also just go outside and play!  Anything you do, and you are moving, is a great thing!  And, I agree, it's important to instill a healthy, active lifestyle with your children so that they will hopefully never have a problem with weight, or health related issues that occur by not being at a healthy weight.

When my kids were younger We we would go hiking alot, tails up big hills, the really big climbs in California when we lived there at one time , my kids had to cheer mom to keep moving. ( I was a bit heavier then ) but I didn't give up , Almost passed out but I made it. We went bike riding & jogging with their dad. My husband taught them Kung Fu. Then later he is teaching me Taiji. We have always taught our kids how important exercise is. & that they need to keep it up throughout their life. And I am happy to say they still are active, Last year my son won many competions in Taiji..

I recently bought the Biggest Loser Power Walk DVD and one night I asked my son if he would do it with me. He typically runs on the treadmill and lifts weights so at first I think he thought the workout was easy. But once it got going, he was pleasantly surprised at how tough it became. It was fun to work out with him. Sometimes he'll also do weights while I'm on my elliptical and it gives me motivation to have him working out with me.

My daughter has autism so to help her reduce stress and sore muscles we do yoga together.

We love the Wii boxing. It is so much fun and my children always beat me which they get a kick out of.

I've been taking the family and the dog out for a walk around the neighborhood after dinner. I love the weather right now and the time to talk to everyone without tv and we all get a nice walk in. smiley-smile.gif
