My Kids' Night Out!

We share New Years Eve with the kids. We invite friends with kids over. The kids play and stay up late. REALLY late. But they stay in their end of the house playing and adults in the other end, we gather at midnight, then everyone piles out and heads home.

This week we're going sledding though.  Snow day every day!  I take vacation time around their school break.  Then scramble at work when I get back to make up for it.

We went to this place about an hour and a half from us.  We have wanted to go ever since we moved here in 2007 and so, this year we decided to go.  It's 30 acres of all kinds of lights.  You can take a train ride to get closer looks.  And they have an old fashioned candy store and you can get your picture taken with Santa.  It was a fun night!

Other than that, we are just going to enjoy wrapping up presents, listening to Christmas music, and watching Christmas shows on tv.

Looks like the kids had fun.  WOW they are growing so fast and I find that they look a lot like their mom...

Hi Ali!  There's a man near here that decorates his yard, his son's yard, and his mother's yard (front and back) and people can drive through and see all the lights and characters he has put up.  It is so beautiful!  He has done it every year for years ever since I have lived in Alabama.  On his rooftop he always puts the football score between Alabama University and Auburn University.  They are huge rivals and always play the weekend of Thanksgiving.  This year Alabama University won and will be playing for the championship against Louisiana State University.  Should be a good game.  Alabama has held the championship for 3 straight years so I hope this will be the fourth.  Anyway, I always take my granddaughter to see the lights at this man's house every year.  She's 16, but she enjoys it.  Sorry for typing so much.  :)

I will be taking my 6 year old grandson to Santas Workshop on Saturday so he can get some Christmas presents.  Like you Ali his mother has to work.  I also watch him after school and he reads books to me for his reading program.

We drive around looking at all the Christmas decorations. The kids really enjoy them. Every year we find that some put up more and more in their yards so it becomes a game with them. Their favorite is the one on the hill above us with a single light. A 10 ft tall cross.  It outshines them all.
